Deposit protection deadline: the 30-day rule explained

Landlords in England and Wales must protect a tenant's deposit in a government-backed scheme, and serve the Prescribed Information on the tenant, within 30 calendar days of receiving the deposit. The duty comes from the Housing Act 2004 (as amended) and applies to assured tenancies in England, which are now periodic.
