What is the maximum deposit I can take? Under the Tenant Fees Act 2019, deposits are capped at 5 weeks' rent where the annual rent is under £50,000, and 6 weeks' rent where the annual rent is £50,000 or more. See gov.uk/government/publications/tenant-fees-act-2019-guidance.

How is 'weeks' rent' calculated? Annual rent × 5 ÷ 52 (or × 6 ÷ 52 for higher-rent tenancies). The calculator does this for you and rounds down to the nearest penny, as HMCTS deposit-protection schemes do.
